Sertraline withdrawal

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone else found the same when stopping Sertraline? I was fine tapering for 4 weeks and then when I finally stopped I had a few aches. However within 1 week of stopping completely I started getting headaches and weird dizziness. I'd turn and then it would take a short period of time for what felt like my brain/eyes to catch up. It got better after 4 days but now seems to have come back. I have tried taking paracetamol/ibuprofen yet I still feel like my head is in a vice! I am also having lots of hot flushes.

I was on 50mg a day for 1 year, are these normal withdrawal symptoms.

Also, I have gained almost a stone in weight since starting it, which I am very uncomfortable with, despite exercising and not changing eating/drinking habits. Did others find this and once stopping did you lose some of the weight gained?

Any thoughts, suggestions etc. welcome x

    Hello Michelle,

I don't know if that will help you... I stopped sertraline about a month ago, been on 100mg a day for 8 months. Put 15kg on weight.... Still have bloated belly and abdominal problems, constipation. Nothing helps, eating healthy - not eating at all just liquids, exercising.. I've read some article and it says it can take even few months for your metabolism to go back to normal. Only solution is to wait.

Hope you feel better soon x

"Discontinuation syndrome may occur for anyone but is most common in people who have been on a medication for many months or many years. It can be unsettling for some people as the symptoms may mimic those that had you seek treatment in the first place. Some people are concerned that, rather than being withdrawal symptoms, the symptoms mean that their depression or anxiety symptoms are reappearing. "

Its from one page, you can read a lot about it
