Anyone else experiencing this? I feel nauseated practically 24/7 from coming off sertraline. Please provide any remedies that have worked for you, thanks!

    Hi Andy,

How much sert were you on, for how long, and how did you come off?  Did you cold turkey or taper?  And if you tapering what was your taper schedule?  How long have you been off?

Severe withdrawal symptoms usually occur because of coming off suddenly or coming off too quickly.  They can build in severity over months.  No other drug can stop it because your system is trying to rebuild itself with the drug out of the equation.  Some have used a Prozac bridge to get off of another SSRI/SNRI or to alleviate symptoms, but then you are on another SSRI which itself will cause WD symptoms unless tapering carefully.

Your best bet may be to start a very small reinstatement of Sert to alleviate your symptoms.  Then you can do a slow taper off of that amount.

Some of found ginger tea or ginger ale to be calming for the nausea.  You just want to be careful about taking even OTC medications to treat these symptoms because your nervous system is very sensitized right now and other drugs can be paradoxical and cause things to get worse!

I've created a thread for getting off psych meds safely, and in it there's a link for Surviving Antidepressants, a forum where others who have been in these trenches can give you support and advice on how to proceed.

    I hope that helps!

      Hi Betsy,

I posted a long write up about myself and the withdrawal on the 'withdrawal coming off sertraline' discussion started by meteor63. I'm surprised that no one replied to my lengthy post with comments or suggestions.

      Thanks!

      Hi Andie,

Usually what happens is that a mod will find your post buried in someone else's and make it an intro; then, it comes up in the Intro topic and people can start responding.  Plus, it maybe came up during a quiet time in the world LOL!

What is your username there; I'll look for your post.  I didn't see meteor63's intro.

Maybe we're talking about two different forums.  I have been looking for you at Survivingantidepressants but zero results for you.

Well, my brain took another detour, something it does often due to cognitive issues due to long term AD use. I thought you meant a post you had made to Surviving Antidepressants, though I have no idea why I made that jump!

I encourage you to join SA - you will definitely get a response there as it has a lot of traffic and the moderators are very good about cruising around looking for new people to advise.
