Hi Wendy, this is very normal this early on, I had side effects on 50mg for several weeks by my third week they were all gone except my sleep still was not great but it’s getting better now. I’ve been on 50mg now for 8 weeks and it has worked amazing for my anxiety! Don’t forget it takes a good 6-8 weeks for this medicine to start working fully, and don’t forget to always speak to your prescribing  Dr if you feel you need to increase or decrease your medication.

I know that in my first 2-3 weeks my heart rate would sometimes get very high as sertraline has that kind of side effect in the beginning of treatment as does anxiety. I also had really bad panic attacks in the first 2-3 weeks of starting sertraline, so yes I would say your elevated heart rate is very normal in these early days for you. I do know that all my side effects went away in time and now I’m starting to feel so much better and now I’m so glad I did not give up early on. It takes time on anti depressants but you will get there.

Yes it is very normal, you do get worse before better, but for me it made me better after about 4 to 5 weeks, the first 10 days are the worst. Hope you have lots of support xx
