Sertraline / zoloft lots of vivid dreams and daytime tiredness
Posted , 3 users are following.
Hi,
I have been on sertraline 50mg for 6 weeks now and my mood and depressive thoughts has suddenly lifted dramatically. I feel free again.
However, I get serious daytime tiredness, like I have to have a nap to get through the day and I have many intense vivid dreams every single night that I clearly remember in the morning.
Will this pass? Any ideas how to stop it? I take sertraline in the morning every single day.

I take 200 mg of Quietapine (Seroquel generic) and I have vivid dreams that I remember, too. My dreams are usually very positive like being a coach on a sports team or being in the Olympics. Once in awhile, I do have negative dreams or nightmares. Are your dreams mostly nightmares? Also, I do have tiredness with my medication and it takes awhile to get going after being asleep. And I do drink coffee to stay awake.
Since these are side effects of your medication, could you switch to another medication that doesn't have these side effects? Check with your doctor on that.

Thanks for your thoughts. have talked to my doc and I think I'm going to power on with the sertraline for a while and see if things change, if not I may try something different. Good luck with your creative dreams!

Hi Ella, If you find something that works, its a good idea to stick with it, these types of meds can definitely have side effects...yes, it can take a while for them to go away, once your body adjusts to it...taking it at a different time might help to prevent daytime drowsiness but, all these effects can settle down eventually...unless you have nightmares, I would stick with this a while....I guess if it continues after being on it for like 6mos. you will have to decide if its better to have the good effects vs. the vivid dreams and mild drowsiness...the problem is trial & error can be REALLY frustrating...ask your Dr & maybe see how it goes?! Good Luck & Best Wishes๐๐๐โฎ๐พ๐ถ

Thankyou so much for your lovely advice, it was really helpful. I agree, I had a short chat with my doc and decided to power through for a while. Crazy dreams are way better than how I was feeling before taking the meds so I believe it is worth it.
