Set back with weight bearing

hi there has anyone else been held back a bit because their wound took longer to heal ?

i started partial weight bearing in the boot after having cast removed there was a small area that needed steri strips

, i was told to do the exercises and weight beare 1.5 stone and to increase over the next two weeks to full weight bearing .

my wound split and started weeping so i stopped wearing the boot and weight bearing but kept doing the stretch exercises .

i tried a couple times more with the boot but again it started splitting and weeping. its now 10 days on its actually dried and scabbed over and ive tried the boot for just short attempts up and down the hall way I am so pleased that theres no splitting or weeping to see so far but its uncomfortable more in my foot than ankle when trying to weight beare i didnt expect it to be as uncomfortable as it is after just 10 minutes it lets me know its enough it would be good to hear from anyone else who could reassure me that the pain discomfort in the foot does ease off and if 10 minutes is ok as a starting point?

i get quite down in the mouth when i google and read i should be full weight bearing by now or when i read others progress and here i am 2weeks after having cast removed only just starting to weight beare x

i have a physio appointment tomorrow hopefully my decision to let the wound heal wont get me into trouble ?

i had my cast off April 30, and I still need crutches, everyone is different I think. It's good to have any issues checked out. I think the muscles in the foot atrophy being in the cast, it takes time to get use to walking for sure.

Hey there. I am about 7 weeks post-op. I just went through the experience of the boot aggravating & making wound areas worse. I began leaving boot off as much as possible (depending on circumstances). Elevated, iced more. Then moved into epsom salts soaks a couple times a day. Added some generic anti-biotic ointment & bandaids. All of that fairly quickly made an improvement in wounds & soreness. I had some old low dose amoxicillin and threw that in the mix.

As far as soreness, tender areas go, I found that using a horse linament gel helped a whole lot!

    Best, Di
