Setback in rehabiliation

I'm a 40 year old male and I fractured my fibula around 6 and half months ago. My initial rebab went fine. I was able to walk unassisted five weeks past the fracture and started to jog around 3 months after the fracture. About 5 months after the fracture I almost forgot the whole thing.

Then, about a month ago, I re-started interval sprinting. I did a couple of sessions in two weeks. Since then my ankle has progressively gone worse. It feels weak and achy. I can walk with it, but it feels uncomfortable and a bit painful.

Could it be tendinitis or something else?

I'm sorry to hear about your. set-back and would ask if you cleared this activity with your medical team. I had my four year old TAR that was failing completely revised almost a year ago and although I can do a fast six mile walk without a rest there is no way that I would risk my new ankle to the impact of anything like running. I was told that my ankle could not be redone again. Cheers Richard

They told me it is ok for me to run. I started running after 3 months of the injury with no problems. Only after I started these interval sprints my ankle became stiff and a bit painful again.

I would be inclined to go back to them about it. No point in trying to guess what's wrong. The last thing you need is any further damage.

    Good luck.
