Setback normal?

Hi all. I am on day 22 on 50 mg of sertraline. The past week to 10 days I have been feeling so much better. The side effects have subsided, my appetite came back, and I was starting to feel normal again. That is until today. When I woke up I had a bad panic attack. I honestly don't know what brought it on. I have been feeling nervous all day for no real reason and have been fighting off the panic all day. My question is, is this normal to have a setback? Has anyone else experienced this? I guess I just need some reassurance that this was just a mild setback and I'm going to feel better. Thanks in advance.

How long have you been taking them? I'm nearly on my fourth week and feel terrible and can't sleep. Can't decide weather to carry on or stop them.

I started on 25 mg July 18, and then 50 on July 22. I was feeling wonderful the past week or so, almost back to normal until today.

And I know it works, I was on it for several years but made the huge mistake to stop taking them a few months ago.

hi anniem, i had the same situation of being on 50mg and i had some really good days but it turned out that 50mg simply was not enough to effectively tackle my depression and anxiety,  so now i am on 100mg which is really working well (so perhaps consider going up to 100mg.. which isn't a high dose.. in many cases 50mg is just the starting dose, particularly for adults)

kirsty: keep going because you are early days, and there's a good chance you feel terrible because the sertraline is still getting to work on you and you havn't adjusted properly to it yet, so feel like crap.  (i personally needed 6+ weeks before starting to make progress, and now at 8 weeks am very much getting there)

Setbacks are normal. If you count the good days, there will be far more than bad ones. By 6-8 weeks you'll be right back to yourself again. Hang in there
