Hi I have been on 200 mgs of setraine for around three year for bad O C D S and health anxiety. This was the only thing that seemed to help as cbt didn't and seem to get these symptoms throughout my life as have done in the past but in cycles I am 38 now but had something similar in my 20s which did go away with medication . I am wanting to have a baby with my husband as I do have son he's 11 year old but from a previous partner and my husband has no children .So my doctor advised me it's best to come of the medication as he had seen another patient who was on this drug who's baby had a heart defect once born so I don't want to risk it. I have been tampering since six months ago and went down from from 200 to 100mgs . I then had some outside stress due to my mum getting ill so stayed on the 100mg for several months and when I saw my doctor after Xmas he said I need to come of these drugs completely as times ticking and I am 39 this year so need to try for baby before I am 40 and said just to go from 100 to 50 first three week then stay on 50 for three weeks then stop . So I did and last Monday was last day I had any sertraline. I have had some side effects brain zaps a bit nausea dizzy Ness being quite angry at times and it's hard to get up in morning. I just wanted to hear some success stories with getting of this stuff as in other forums all I have had is negative and that the doctor is wrong and sertraline is safe when your pregant and it's the worst thing to do as I will end up going back on it . This lady had that experince when she came of it . She said now she's back on it she's fine and the baby but it's not been born yet so could still have a heart defect once it's born . Sorry for the long post just is there anyone with a positive story out there from withdrawing from setraline. I know there are going to be side effects but do they dissappear after time and how long ??. Thanks emma jo

He put me back on it and I have a healthy 4 year old boy now.
My advice would be check with a psychiatrist whether coming off is the right thing. GPs tend to play safe, but my psychiatrist pointed out that the risks to me and the baby were much higher having a relapse (I was suicidal) than staying on the meds.
