Setraline 100mg-advice.

Hi everyone, Since end March I've been suffering from anxiety & very depressed thinking. I have just turned 50 and was prescribed 20mg Citalopram-after a few weeks i ended up in A&E because I felt completely overwhelmed at work & not safe. The Mental Health Team changed the prescription to Setraline & off i went. That was 5 weeks ago & felt I was making progress but this week has been difficult.Probably because I had a lot of alcohol on a day out on Saturday. I do feel a bit better today but still have overwhelming thoughts about the future & coping-or not. Any advice welcome.

Just a couple of things - you won't quite be settled on the dose yet so do give it a bit more time. Also I've been on a couple of SSRIs and in my personal experience Sertraline does not mix with alcohol! i pretty much stopped drinking because of feeling much more low and anxious the day after drinking. But at least you know what it is. I'm the same age as you - it's an obvious question but have you had your hotmones checked and thyroid as well? I've struggled the past couple of years and thinks it's all interlinked. Don't despair - you'll
come out the other end of the tunnel.

Thanks so much for replying. I got my bloods done yesterday as I feel that as you say it's all interlinked. I agree about the drinking-good at the time but you pay for it. Its the anxiety that really drives everything & end up in massive panic attacks.I'll give it a bit more time & hope i turn a corner.

I'm sure you will. You're not on your own - I had to take time off work - exercise helps enormously and good regular sleep. It's a cliche but look after yourself - I find swimming helps my mood and alleviates palpitations and that good old bloated midriff! good luck

Hi Pauline , happy 50th!
i was on 100 mg for about 12 months! from experience this dosage is very up ans down for the first two months before you feel the benefits , i can assure you in time you will feel better 😃
ps the alcohol is a big contribution to the flactuating moods !

Thank you for replying-yes I think alcohol is a no go. I didn't realise it can take a few months to really level out. Just being feeling so rubbish, irritable & anxious-even worrying that when i get better I wont cope the next time. But the support on here is great so thank you.

Hold on to the fact that you will get better then just take it one day at a time. Also someone said to me - don't compare your bad days to your good days. Compare them to how your bad days used to be. Good advice!

i was exactly the same, felt i was never going to get better, horrible thoughts circulating constantly, just takes time you will get better . Enjoy your holiday dont let the anxiety take over
