HEllo I just now joined patient in hopes of getting some insight. If I'm posting this in the incorrect place please advise me where I should be posting this. OK here's my story. For about a year and a half I've been experiencing abdominal pain under my left rib just below the breast. This pain radiates to the center of my abdomen, into my upper to mid back and sometimes on the side as well. Other symptoms are nausea and sometime I vomit but I have a bit of a phobia about vomit so I can control that. I also will not be Abe to eat. Most everything I try to eat makes me sick almost immediately. I seem to burp more frequently as well. This pain is very bad and can last from 5 to 7 days I will get a couple days without the pain then it comes back. This will go on for at leaSt 2 agonizing months sometimes as long as 4 months. Then it will subside for a few months with only minor attacks before coming back with a vengeance. I've seen my general practicer aso well as my surgeon and cannot get a diagnosis. I cannot continue to live like this. I won't continue to have this kind of pain. I'm most humbly asking for your advise. Thank you very much for your time.

Hi. You do not tell us of what tests you have had if any. Gall stones are my first thought and for that you need to have an abdominal ultrasound. Next likely cause is duodenal ulcer tand for that you need to have a gastroscopy or go on trial of medicine called proton pump inhibitor or even just an antacid.

I'm very sorry I can see how important it is for you to know that and I do apologize. My mind feels foggy from lack of sleep from pain but I'll do my best to remember. I have had my gallbladder removed several years ago. They did a CT scan on my abdomen and could not see anything abnormal in regards to this issue. I also had a complete lab work up and was deficit on several vitamins due to a gastric bypass I had in 2006. The surgeon had me swallow a liquid and watched as it entered my stomach and that all he did. I've have some small ulcers but am on medicine for it and it really doesn't resemble that pain anyway. It's very complex and unfortunately I have to make trips to the ER where they give me pain meds in my iv but they only last for a very brief time before I'm in terrible pain again. They always send me home and tell me to contact my doctor in the morning. This pain has been so bad that it has taken my breath away and doubled me over. I'm really getting frightened. I thank you for taking the time to respond. I am getting a brief period of relief right now so I'm going to try to doze off while I can but if you have anything further to add I will check back in soon. Thank you once again.

mmmm you describe Gall bladder issues... definitely see a GP or specialist they can wave the ultrasound over it...  there are tests...   It simply could be aggrevated and inflamed but something has caused it!

It would be advisable to get it sussed out and not leave it.  Not wishing to scare you, but here in New Zealand sadly a lot of folk are not treated properly or in time.  They are left with issues regarding their gall bladders and it blows out and gets out of hand expecially when infection errupts.  Here in NZ, 1 in 4 folk will die as a result of gall bladder.  That's high!   But in saying that, folk would normally be in the 40, 50, onwards age brackets and have reoccuring issues for years treated or not before anything serious errupts.  So don't be getting all worried, just be sensible with diet and also have it checked out when those pains errupt.  No different to any other painful condition. That is of course if it is your Gall Bladder...   Hugs...

Hi Deb, I'm grateful for your comment. I'm very upset that my doctor is not taking this seriously. In my second post I tried to give a background of past surgeries and have had my gallbladder removed. Here in America there is a huge prescription drug addiction and many time the doctors her think your looking for pills to get high. That is most definitely NOT my case. I'm already on heavy meds for a back condition I suffered as a teenager. Even if the doctor prescribed me medication to help with the pain I'd still demand a diagnosis as its severe pain and most definitely a serious problem. At bed I lay in bed and pray for God to come get me while my husband lies next to me praying the pain will subside. I fear I will lose him over this. He's been strong for me thus far but it's wearing on him. He's helpless to help me and he no longer gets a good night's sleep because I am in terruble pain all night. I'm lost. I need help and it's not there for me. Thank you so much for your input and if you have anything further to add I'd be most thankful to hear your thoughts. I told my Dr yesterday that she may have given up on me but I won't till my last breathe. smile
