Severe Acid reflux

Hi guys, my name is Emma and I am 17 years old, I've had as some like to call it 'GERD' for around 4 years now.

I have suffered severely from it even to the point where I can't get myself out of bed because I have hardly any energy. I get sever heart burn, integestion (or however you spell it), abdominal pains which seem to travel around the back of my spine ( more to the arch part ) which gives me severe back pains as well.

After returning to the doctors with the rubbish PPI medicines such as Omperazole and others.

I final went for the camera down the throat! Can't remember what it's called and found out that even though I'm 17 I have a small hiatus hernia.

But now I've been told that they doctors haven't helped me in anything! I'm still trying to pull myself out of bed for college in the mornings with this pain and all I am getting from

The doctors is ' healthy eating plans!' Eating does not start my acid reflux, it comes and goes as it pleases, nothing good or drink wise can calm it down either, the only medication that work is wrong iburofen tablets, but I have to take a lot of them & it can give me olsers!?

I've elevated my bed, don't work, hot water bottles, don't work, medication just about works but not what my doctor has prescribed me with?! I've changed my diet, I don't drink fizzy drinks, hardly eat fizzy sweets or too none! Small meals instead of big ones? Still not working

Someone help? What can I do to help my pains!

Do you have depressing feel and stress?

I try not to stress because I know stress can cause a lot of these symptoms and I wouldn't say I'm depressed, but I can become depressed as certain times, Thankyou for replying

I've also started to get things when I was a teen. First of all why are you taking ibuprufen? Should be carefull with this drug, especially longterm. It can cause gastritis and bad things in the stomach. PPIs aren't helping at all or a they to some extent? Hiatus hernia is probably the cause of your GERD but is is manageable. Read online how to manage it.

I see that the "camera down your throat" also called endoscopy procedure is OK so you are fine. You shouldn't be worrying too much then since there aren't any major pathological changes. You should be going for an ultrasound of the abdomen as well.

Thankyou, I only take ibuprofen when I get my symptoms as it's the only thing that takes the pain away, the PPI medicines don't help at all, I've given them try after try as I obviously want them to work, I'm off back to my doctor Friday because I know ibuprofen can cause other problems within the stomach, Thankyou for you reply and I will look into getting a ultrasound

I think at such a young age you need to go back to the Drs and asked to be referred to a gastro specialist, if need be take your mum or dad with you for support, I do know how you feel I have had this problem for over 30yrs and I am at my wits end with it all. I know how bad the pain is but be careful taking iburofen all the time. I am truly sorry for you I do know what you are going through, hope you get your self sorted out, god bless take care.
