hi can someone please help, im a 24 year old woman, back on wednesday at work while using the restroom i noticed fresh bright red blood when i wiped after my stool. i had to take a double look because i thought it was my period as it has been running late now for the past 2 weeks but i figured only because i skipped my BC pills, then immediately started worrying about pregnancy as i felt sick to my stomach. those symptoms have went away now. i have recently been diagnosed with pcos back in february and have had suspected endometriosis as well. i have chronic cysts flare ups/ibs like symptoms. that make me not able to walk for a week at a time or attend work. now as of today, this week i have noticed this blood in my stool, i can barely pass gas, it is pebble like ball then changes into normal or sometimes i dont even go for days at a time. i have severe anxiety and health anxiety and im freaking out that it may be colorectal cancer or something. i may have strained but i dont remember, i dont feel weak or anything, my stomach is hard and feels constipated, fresh bright red blood in stool only after i pass a bowel movement. i dont have any weight loss or loss of appetite. i have lots of energy too. but my anxiety is eating me up. i cant stop crying. i am getting into the ER tomorrow and i have scheduled an appointment to see a doctor on Thursday . i am so scared and worried. does anyone have any similar experiences please help

The bright red blood is pretty common especially when a person is constipated and straining. I’ve had that myself many times and it’s always when there’s constipation. When you strain, many times tiny blood vessels in that area can break open and that’s where you get the bright red blood. In those cases, it’s nothing serious. Like I said it’s quite common. The bright red blood is normally from the anal area. For example people can also have hemorrhoids that bleed, etc.
dark red blood is more commonly from somewhere in the upper G.I. track.
Doctors are more concerned with dark red bleeding. Of course you can always get checked out but I’m pretty sure they’re going to say it’s nothing of concern.
how is your diet? Are you eating enough roughage such as fruits and vegetables and drinking enough water so that you’re not constipated? Getting any exercise? These are all important otherwise your gastrointestinal system slows down and constipation is the result and then you strain.
take care. Everything will work out!

hi jan, yes i am a healthy eater on and off but i could definitely use more nutrients/fiber. fruits and veggies. all of this stomach pain and cramping sortve resembles a period, my vaginal area feels strange too. i feel like my insides are being pulled down right now in the lower abdomen pelvic area. the pain is around my belly button and upper abdomen.its very vague. i always have ibs symptoms and period systems co existing together. the first time i noticed a streak of blood in the stool was when i was 20, which was 4 years ago. i had pain occuring at the same time and i am having a late period right now so it sortve feels the same, or like when you have an ovarian cyst with back pain. i have pcos like i said snd suspected endometriosis i just am freaking out because i have had bright like blood in the stool since wednesday and it was mixed in the stool, it was hard and small like a ball and pebble like before the first one which was green a lumpy and looked normal. i have not had a stool in days now, just peeing alot. i was on the phone with my mother and she also deals with colon problems and have recently had another colonoscopy she is 52, nothing bad with her. she was told before she had ulcerative colitis and ibs and she thinks i could be suffering from the same. she is trying to calm me down but i cant stop crying, also today i feel stressed out i tried eating but right when i est my stomach starts hurting in the upper abdomen, (ate a chicken tender from fast food) but then the pain goes away ) so now im freaking out because is this another symtpm of colon cancer. i want to go out tonight with friends but i am so worried and scared i cant stop thinking about whats wrong, my stomach feels burning gnawing like pain kind of on and off, idk with certain triggers or such. but other times im completely fine im just worried about the blood and trapped gas because my rectum seems tight and my gas sounds weird when i pass it
