Severe back pain

Have been on predison now since October 2015 started on 20 mg now tapering down from 15 mg to 12 1/2 mg per day but I have noticed that I am now shaking pretty bad lower back still hurts and can't stand or walk very good is this normal?

Still have lower back pain and in hips in thighs is it possible I could have s pinched nerve that they have not finding? I don't want to book our vacation then find out I won't be able to walk around it's pretty severe

Thanks so much

I feel for you.  I have had the same problem. Muscle inflammation  in my lower back, and I could hardly walk.  I was diagnosed with PMR September 2014, and it is now getting better. Initially I was on 20 mg of prednisone because of SEVERE back pain like you describe.

I am now on 9 mg of prednisone lowering SLOWLY 1 mg a month.  Your 2 1/2 mg reduction is too fast.

Doctors want us to reduce quickly, but it will cause flares.

Take care and good luck with the reduction.  You want to be able to walk when yhou go on vacation.  Advil/Tylenol can help for  pain.....

Dr also wants me to try acupuncture

      Has any one tried that

Acupuncture doesn't hurt so no need to be afraid.  However, I have had two lots of 10 sessions (paid for by our national health system) but neither gave me any relief from PMR.

Others have been helped a lot.  Only thing to do is to try it!

It happens people notice a change on the way their body suddenly reacts whatever a new pain , a teeth issue, weight gain, etc, etc

I would go to see an specialist to check on a possible pinched nerve as the route cause of your pain.

Wish you will put this straight before booking your trip and all will work well.

Bowen, Bowen, Bowen. It took more than 3 sessions, but I'm so happy to rid of the back pain.  Also, guided meditation has helped. I actually lie on my stomach like I do when in Bowen session. I finally found some meditation CDs that I like. Yes, sometimes I doze off, but who cares, I feel relaxed which is a giant plus!

Oh, and don't sit for longer than 30 minutes, my back will start to hurt if I'm reclining too long watching a tv show.

I do the same as you - meditation, avoid sitting longer than 30 minutes, drink my water in between meals .

Having no pain though with my GCA when taking the right amount of Pred.

      Keep well 🌺
