Gosh, please stop taking this medication until you do some research on this..this could be greatly effecting your kidneys.. Can you tell us why you are taking this daily? This normally is taken one day a week, starting with 2 or 3 tablets..

      Hello.

Sorry I take it once a week for RA. This is my third week and each time my back hurts. Its in the muscle area that runs either side of your spine. Its horrible.

There is what's called referred pain..which sounds like is a possibility from where you've described your pain..would you say this is in your low to middle back? Have you asked your doctors nurse, or called a nurse in your local ER to get her thoughts about whether you should be seen right away? Methotrexate is associated with liver toxology and and serious co morbid complications. You may want to get a few professional opinions and your own feelings about this before taking another of these. These were poison for me and caused all over pain and cause a compromised immune system leading to infection in the body, including kidney infection, dental infections, ( loosening of teeth and infection getting into the roots and then becoming systemic, and other infections) ..

I am wondering if you have stopped taking the methotrexate...? Side effects from this drug greatly lowers our immune system and induced pain in so many places in me....is toxic for many and symptoms like yours are listed in the medication insert guven by the pharmacist as toxic reactions to this medication.

I have been taking methratrexate for couple of months and nothing like that.  I do drink two big glasses of water when I take it.  I am up to 20 mg and all I've noticed is hair loss.  I would call your Dr just to ease your mind.

Hi Donna,  I took MTX for 18 months until I could no longer tolerate the pain it caused in my hips and thighs.  I stopped taking it in February and still have pain, though it is now tolerable.

Talk to your Consultant.  I have now spoken to mine [Dermatologist] and he is looking to put me on a different drug

I took Co-Dydramol at night, which helped me sleep through the pain for a few hours but, as you say, nothing much helps.

When I mentioned the pain to my Dermatologist, I also remembered that I had had pain like that, when I took Alendronic Acid.  He asked me whether I had taken Atorvastatin, which I had and I had also had to stop that because of leg pain.  The Atorvastatin was about 15 years ago, so I don't know what he was thinking about.  We are discussing it further in 3 weeks time.

speak to your Dr or Rheumatoligist asap as it sounds like you cannot take that much medication in one go or that drug with out some sort of steroid pain killer
