Severe charley horse pains from the bottom of the foot through the heel up through the calf

Hello,

Just broke my ankle, in two spots 3 weeks ago. I have had some weird pains through out the foot and the ankle. Assuming its a healing process. Here recently had some severe charley horses from the bottom of the foot through the heel and up through the calf. These are excruciating pain!!!! I have had charley horses before but these are horrible! I am assuming they are from not using the calf muscle and foot. I have wore a boot everyday and night for 3 weeks. I have lost so much muscle mass in the calf. I really want to take the boot off and not wear it for a bit. I do not want the foot /ankle to move its super stiff. I go back to the Ortho this week. I am praying all these weird aches and pains are just a healing process. They are worse then the broken ankle itself!

I had an ankle replacement the end of June and at seven weeks post op started getting those pains always at night in bed. They have decreased for me though so hopefully with further healing they will be gone. My therapist didn't have an answer either. Good luck!!

are you having surgery to repair it?

i broke mine in 3 places and had surgery Bunch of screws and stabilizing screw

I was in a cast for 3 weeks after my surgery and for two weeks could do very little Then I got a walking boot

I have days when I get shooting pains but not CHARLEY HORSES

It's probably the nerves trying to heal, at least that is what they told me

I'm almost 9 weeks post op

STILL ON crutches although today I did walk a little with no crutches

    It hurts Im icing now

    GOOD LUCK!!!!

My PT told me to use a heating pad on "low" for my calf aches/pains. It DID help. Sometimes I have had the ice pack around my ankle at the same time as using the heating pad on my calf. Works for me.
