Does anyone else experience severe depression either the week before your period or days before your period? To the point where it feels unbearable sometimes? If so, what do you do to help it?

I get depressed and anxious, I try to avoid caffeine, alcohol and sugar, they can affect your hormone levels. I also take multi vitamin and mineral supplements. I also have a couple of handfuls of mixed nuts every day, they are good for depression. Try oil of evening primrose and starflower oil tablets they are supposed to help balance your hormones.

Try and get as much natural light on you as possible and try and do a bit of exercise if you feel up to it.

do you take an antidepressant? i take prozac, are you able to take the oils and what not while on an antidepressant?

I don't take antidepressants, I think it is fine to take oil of evening primrose and starflower oil with them though.

Look up "how to balance hormones" there is a lot of advice on it. I would also recommend seeing a psychologist to talk about ways of managing your depression. I used to take antidepressants and had a lot of negative side effects, learning to manage my depression and anxiety helped me so much.

So before menstruation I have similar symptoms, so I try to relax as much as possible with lots of mint tea or other fruits. I eat very well, but during this period I allow you to eat black chocolate, but real and sugar-free and they have a lot of nuts with honey. I do yoga and try to control my emotions.
