Severe Depression and Loneliness

Hello, All.

I'm 23 and i've recently relocated for my new job and to start a new life, however, i am plagued by clinical depression that i've had since i was around 17. Since this time i haven't had any relationships or any form of romance, and this kills me everyday and i feel that nothing's ever gonna change and i'm going to miss out on the opportunitity to have a relationship/romance at this age. I was wondering has anyone else struggled with the same issue of clinical depression affecting their love lives in such a way? and can anyone offer any words of wisdom on this?

Because of this relocation i also have no social life and i was wondering if anyone has any good tips for meeting people etc.?

FYI: I am currently unmedicated and i am waiting on my therapist to refer me to a counsellor but it is taking quite a long time... grrrr. smile

Thanks for the help in advance smile

hi, i would'nt worry about meet someone for relationship purposes for a while, as ur still very young, an just starting ur adult life, take ur time in selection, an if its meant to be, it will be,

with regards for meeting new ppl, i dont knw, this country is not setup like it used to, i'm guessing outside of work u have plenty of time on ur hands, maybe you could learn something new, maybe a skill or an  instrument,

an these can then lead you too people, of whom share a same intrest,

    hope this helps,

      Cheers, Michael!

It is really hard for me to look past all these people my age who are in relationships and experiencing love and stuff. But i understand the idea of 'meeting someone' probably isnt necessary right now... I just feel perhaps some perhaps some affection would help.

In regards to instruments... Funnily enough i am a guitar player and ive been desperately trying to keep practicing. But its hard when you no motivation at all.

      How do you overcome that?

      Thanks

      Cal

thats awesome u play guitar too, as u knws u can never fully learn to play a guitar, with the many varoius styles, patterns n hundreds of chords etc,

with regards to motivation, u need to set goals, maybe end of a month u want to play something fluently, practise slow n speed up,

i find motivation, can come from buying a new guitar, a true guitarist can never have too many lol, an u can custom that guitar to ur style prefrence,

i been playing over 20yrs, hav a couple of accoustics, n many electrics, for diffrent tunings n purposes etc,

i also found buying music tab books, by ur faveriot artist or fave albums, can help with the motivation, as u have the music printed in front of you,

although searching for tabs on the internet is fine, there is software called guitar pro, i thinks its version 6 now, an u can play along to the tunes u download ( practically midi files )

without encouradging piracy, these can be available as torrents GP6 wink

if u wud like further advice learning to play, or developing a certain style, feel free to ask, i have aided many ppl in learning to play guitar, an maybe it can be something u cud do too smile

      Thanks, Michael!

It's good to hear from a passionate guitarist!

I do like to mess around with tunings and tab stuff up. I have knack for critical listening, i love it - but it's been increasingly hard to have the belief in myself to even pick it up. I guess i just gotta keep pushing whatever way i can! Cheers again! smile
