Severe eye strain?

Two weeks ago i started a new job which requires looking at a screen for 8 hours a day , i started to develop eye strain symptoms which i ignored , i felt myself squinting more and more , getting headaches between the eyes and a stabbing pain above the eye and side of nose , i kept pushing through until i had a funny turn , i had blurred vision which i can only describe as a watery blob floating in each eye which caused me to pass out , i think the combination of blurred vision , dizziness and panic that caused this.

One week on i still have eye discomfort and photophobia which i cannot shake off , looking at a monitor and TV screen is seriously uncomfortable and i cannot focus on anything without squinting and a getting a headache around the eyes and forehead

Time for the opticians/ doctors , any suggestions?

Thanks

Definitely go to an optician to get your eyes checked out. You may need glasses for screen work.Just staring at a screen for 8 hours per day is very taxing on the eyes. You should be able to take a break at least once per hour when you walk away from the screen and blink rapidly . If you are in UK it is law that employers must allow breaks from this type of work. You can read about it on the Government web site.
