Severe gastritis - should I be worried?

Posted , 2 users are following.

I was 'sort of diagnosed' with gasritis 2 months ago as a result of taking too much ibuprofen for the last 6 months (like every other day)

i developed a twitchy, crampy pain in my upper central abdomen and a little to the right. other symptoms include: bloating, feeling full, burping, pain above belly button.

stool and urine output normal.

my doctor has not done any tests and says its just severe gastritis. i was on famotidine for 6 weeks, came off for 2 weeks, started feeling uncomfortable again. back on famotidine for another 2 months.

should i be worried? recovery seems to be very slow. I dont really know how to take care of myself and no one seems to be bothered because it's not that serious.

any treatment advice?

please help, I'm so anxious

i’m sorry you are going through this. I have had gastritis and I know how it feels! I’ve had it more than a couple of times. But I did have an endoscopy to confirm it.

basically, stress and anxiety can definitely bring it on because stress and anxiety causes acid release into the stomach. So if you’re going through something in your life you might want to think about counseling to find ways to reduce the stress.

secondly, avoid acidic foods and drinks! You will want to eat foods that are more alkaline rather than acidic. You can go online and look those foods up. Stay away from junk food, pop, red meats, etc. eat more of the fresh vegetables, very lean chicken, etc all online.

it’s better to eat five small meals a day rather than three large meals! Healthy alkaline snacks can count for one of the five small meals in between.

stay hydrated by drinking lots of water throughout the day! I switched from regular milk to unsweetened almond milk. It’s easier on the stomach. Also unsweetened coconut milk is very good for you.

get a little exercise even if it’s just walking.

but it’s very important to de stress as much as you can. I listen to relaxing meditations for anxiety on YouTube just about every day especially when laying down to sleep.

if you can, find a gastroenterologist that would do an endoscopy procedure to confirm the gastritis. It’s really all up to you. I just like to know that I actually had that.

please feel free to private message me anytime! My gastritis is under control but I still have to be careful with the stress and what I eat. But it did force me to eat healthier that’s one good thing! Take care of yourself.
