Severe GERD and Other Concerning Symptoms

Posted , 3 users are following.

I'm an 18 year old female and I have been suffering with severe GERD and other gastro issues for the past few months. I have been through a ton of tests and have tried almost every medication on the market but nothing has been helping. Then, just a few days ago, I started experiencing an excruciating stabbing/burning sensation in my stomach along with all of the other symptoms and now I'm on the verge of tears and trying to figure out what's wrong and what to do next. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, I have suffered with GERD for 13 years now and have tried all sorts of medications, PPI's can give you a burning stomach. I cannot take esomeprazole for longer than 2 days now as I have become intolerant of it after taking it for 12 years without problems What I am wondering is whether you are taking too many different pills together. I had to wean myself off and take nothing, which is hard it took about 4 weeks just taking ranitidine, which helps with acid but does not stop production, the pain went completely. When I reintroduced esomeprazole the burning came back 100% worse than before, I now take lansoprazole. IBS also causes burning. Have you tried a probiotic and a prebiotic, which are different things, it may be that you have to little acid and a prebiotic can help with this. As you don't say what your other symptoms are its hard to advice any further. Take care

I'm on esomeprazole twice a day right now, but I have been taking it for about a month without any issues other than the original symptoms (nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension) which I have had since June 15. The one thing I find somewhat helpful is betaine hydrochloric acid.
