Severe leg pain for 5 weeks-help

Really hoping someone out there can help me. I had a baby 22 weeks ago and ever since I’ve had bad sciatic pain down my left leg. 5 weeks ago I was admitted into hospital as the pain was so severe and I was unable to walk. MRI discovered slipped (herniated disc) L5/S1. So I was put on waiting list for surgery and given a nerve root block. Nerve block didn’t work. I was discharged after 9 days with better pain control (although not great) but still unable to walk or stand straight. 2weeks later I was readmitted via ambulance as I was frozen-couldn’t move and was in excruciating pain. I’ve given birth twice now without pain relief so I’d like to think I have a pretty good pain threshold-this is by far the worst pain I’ve ever been in.
Another nerve block done and unsuccessful. 2nd opinion from a spinal surgeon stated spinal surgery unlikely to help as x2 unsuccessful nerve blocks indicate the surgery won’t work. He queried sacral ileac joint dysfunction possible as well as slipped disc. Physio confirmed this on assessment and manipulated it back into place. Consultant ordered CT guided steroid injection into the joint. This has not provided any relief so at present despite x2 diagnosed problems, the consultant can’t diagnose why I’m still in such severe pain. Still in hospital after a further 12 days.
The pain starts at my outer thigh and radiates down the outside of my leg to my ankle bone. It’s like severe toothache and is so sore. Nighttime is awful. I’ve been seen by the pain time multiple times and they’ve tried me on so many drugs including morphine and fentynal but nothing seems to take the pain away.
I feel I’m not bonding with my baby and I miss her and my 5 year old. I’m so sad. Please does anyone have an idea as to what else could be causing this pain? I just want to be able to hold my baby again.

What a shocking thing to happen. I wish I could help you. The fact that the medical world can’t find the cause is even worse. I have to agree with Dawn68509 , don’t leave hospital until some reasonable help can be found for your pain. I know how much you must miss your children but at this stage you must try and get this sorted. I will add you to my prayers Darlin. Much love from Australia xx

Hi Victoria,
I'm Lucy from Indonesia. If you take surgery it says no patient can recover 100%, even after surgery with a 75% success rate — 50:50 failure risk (cause paralysis). I have a problem with my leg (sciatic nerve pain L5-S1 lateral recess stenosis) for more than 7 year but I think it's heal now. How I get heal is by doing Mindfulness Meditation — Happiness mind; that do help a lot, I feel my body more lighter. I can do my activities like normally and no more back/leg pain. Btw, the whole story can be read on Medium [ID 103cia].
Hope it help.
