severe nerve pain after surgery

I just had ankle reconstruction surgery on Tuesday after having ORIF surgery in January of 2018. After both surgeries I have experienced severe nerve pain in the ball of my foot. The only way i seem to find any relief is by taking my foot out of an elevated position and placing it on the floor. Placing my foot on the floor eases the nerve pain but causes my ankle to throb. Anyone else ever experience this?

Per my surgeons instructions my foot needs to stay elevated for the first two weeks and I am only supposed to get up to go to the bathroom.
