Severe pain 12 weeks after hip replacement REVISION

i was bone on bone and had hip replacement in Feb 2019. I started having sharp pains in groin area 8 months after. Went back to surgeon who after every test imaginative, he actually said "I can't figure out what's wrong". i was SHOCKED to say the least! Met with another surgeon that determined the replacement ball had shifted and was too far forward. The surgeon believes the ball shifted b/c it was not screwed in. I had the revision at the end of March 2021. I was so excited b/c I had less pain the day after surgery than I had going into it. Everything was going well. I was ahead of the game with PT, walking normal again and mentally started feeling good. The first week of June I had COVID and was down for 2 weeks. The week after my PT was on vaca for a week. I returned to PT after being out for three weeks and it has been MISERABLE!!! I cannot walk around the grocery store w/out having to stop and rest my hip.If I walk too much in a day, my thigh swells up, throbs w/ pain which keeps me up all night, and my knee is hurting. I now have to ice/heat and eat ibuprofin all day. has anyone else had this or similar issue?

My PT advised we are basically starting all over b/c every supporting muscle has kicked to aid the week primaries. I get it, but something just doesn't seem right....

It was very hard to read all you have been thru. Group hugs to you. Its not easy especially when we expect to have a better quality of life after THR,. Not a whole list of complications and there is no evidence in x-rays of anything gone wrong is especially agonizing.

Been thru similar issue my primary hip surgery had several issues. Corrosion, pseudo tumours , fracture in the greator trochantor and no one knew what was wrong and causing the pain. Nothing showed up in xrays and was not allowed any pain meds. After a few years revision surgery was scheduled and that is how they found all the issues listed above. They had to remove the femur implant and to do that they cut the femur bone in 3 places to remove the primary component to replace it with a new femur implant. It took over a year to get back in shape. All I did was just walk to get muscles and leg stronger. This was my third THR surgery and just walking as tolerated daily helped me to get back a better quality of life. This hip recovery is one thing that cannot be rushed to heal any faster. It takes time .

The ball shifting happens when the parts are mismatched with the opening drilled, or mismatched in size. Usually they are press fit with the other major components . If the area where the socket was placed and not prepared correctly while drilling out the area in the acetabulum or at the correct angle then it can be forced out from walking , movement pressure. Are you talking about the metal component attached to the socket area in the acetabulum or the ball in the socket attached to the femur? Just want to be clear we are talking about the same area . The socket implant in my acetabulum was screwed in place with three screws also had a bone graft.

I hope you can get back to a better place soon and see progress . Dont worry about PT. Just slow and easy no pushing faster healing , hips heal just fine on their own. Sending healing vibes your way.
