Severe pain 5 weeks after shoulder surgery

Posted , 3 users are following.

It's been 5 weeks since I had a bone spur removed and rotor cuff shaved. I am in physical therapy. I have been back to the Dr that done the surgery twice and he told me that there is nothing that he can do and no medicine that he can give me for the pain. I was on Tylenol 3 and am still taking celebrex 200mg once a day. This is all that he has ever prescribed to me. The pain has gotten worse and I don't know what to do.

I don't know what you mean by spur or shaved rotator cuff.  Debridement?  And why were these done?  Your doctor or medical records should help explain your condition.  You can also consider a second opinion, but I don't think it wise to do so unless you have done some independent research/education on your ailment.

James, so sorry to here about your pain. We all know what it feels like. Ice is your best friend. I also used pain patches near the area. That helped.

You have another 2-3 weeks to go.  After that the pain subsides a little more with each passing day.

I had surgery July 31st and still have pain. Not like it was but still sore. I had a full tear, bone spurs and bursitis that was cleaned up.

This is just a long painful recovery.

Keep eps up with the PT. Although, it hurts you need it to get ROM and strength back.

    Good luck.

Time to "cool" off the shoulder.  ICE, ICE, and more ice.  Ice that shoulder as much as you can to relieve the pain.  This is temporary.  You will recover.  Relax and start icing.  One day at a time.  YOU CAN DO THIS!!  HANG TOUGH you will be okay!
