Severe pain

After having a pulmonary embolism a week later I was woken up with a severe stabbing pain in my side and lower back it has not stopped and only happens while I am sleeping went back to the hospital they seem to think it's lung tissue damage but the new x Ray looks good the pain is ridiculous that even oxycodone and zanex won't even help I haven't slept more than two hours a night in a week has anyone else have these symptoms

Hi. I had the same thing 6 days after my PE was diagnosed. I went to the hospital but they said it was probably muscular. It eventually went away after 3 to 4 days. I still don't know what it was but it hasn't come back. I hope your situation has improved.

I had horrible pain that started while I was in the hospital. When it hit, it was almost like a spasm. It racked my body and put me in tears the pain was so bad. The first doctor acted annoyed that the Loratab/Morphine combo wasn't working. I never asked for anything stronger. They switched to stronger pain meds and I can say all they ever did was make me sleepy. It never took the pain away. My right lung was infarcted. We released that doctor and got a pulmonary doctor on my case. He started me on a muscle relaxer. Once I was able to get air moving into that lower lobe, it made all the difference in the world.
