Severe Pain But Blood Work Is Normal. Please Help!

I have UC and I've been in a bad flare since Wensday. It hurts so bad I've woke up crying, can barely drive without having to pull over, and I'm losing blood when I go to the bathroom. I'm going five times a day just about and I'm down almost ten pounds!

I went to the er and they gave me pain medication through an IV, which I still felt the pain only it was dull. They also gave me flushes for dyhdration.

My blood work came back normal and I was sent home. But I'm in a lot of pain and still very simple k.

Has anyone else had this before? I'm seeing a new GI doctor on Thursday and I'm scared that because my blood work was normal he'll blow me off. I can't live like this. I can't sleep or eat! I have a three and a half month old daughter and it's getting hard to take care of her and my heart is breaking.

I already suffer from major depression. It isn't helping but I'm seriously really scared because I'm in pain and nothing is showing up.

Get them to check your gallbladder!!! Soon as possible.... if its severe pain then thats what is may be...

No not at all...an you wont run fever either...but the pain feels like razor blades... trust me i know....the only way they can tell if something wrong with your gallbladder is the HIDA scan ..no blood test can tell if your gallbladder bad

Google -gallbladder attacks symptoms- an see if you having some of the symptoms

Gallstones would not make you bleed nor would they make you lose weight. Did they test your urine? And are you bleeding front or back?

They tested my urine but it was normal too. Except for me being slightly dyhdrated, everything was normal.

      Bleeding from the back.

Ok was thinking it might be kidney stones infection if you were bleeding from the front. Bless you, it has to be your UC..hope it gets resolved soon

Hi Jamie, have you upped your UC meds? Sounds like you may need steroids to control this flare? Can you ring your consultants secretary for advice? What meds are you on...any rectal? If you can't get advice from consultant make an urgent doctor appt. xx

I agree much with what Jill has said. See a doc Asaph! I'm a UC sufferer four years plus now and pain and depression def follows however pain on right side sounds different. My own discomfort has very much been left sided, lower back, and stomach! About the only place I haven't had pain as yet is on my right side! Have your gall bladder checked. Maybe time too for you to consider a few weeks on steroids, Good luck!

hope you feeling better. Have you a colon or sigmoidoscopy soon? they need to know how bad your uc is surely - its dangerous to bleed so much and be in so much pain. I would push for a scan asap, what is your consultant doing about it?
