Severe Pelvic Pain. Worried.

hi All, I haven't been here for some time now,but it was for a different reason.
i have Chronic Pelvic pain 24/7.now I've had this for well over 12yrs,but the pain has gradually got worse. It's worse when I sit,and it gets even more painful at the end of the day. The only relief I get is when I sleep,it never wakes me. Which leads me to believe it's Pelvic Neuralgia or Pelvic floor. My pain Specialist has given me a nerve block, about six months ago,and he's giving me another at the end of this month. Which brings me to the question of whether I'm doing the right thing, because the first one done no good at all,in fact I feel it may have made it worse. I never asked him what he suspected my problem was,I'm just guessing Pelvic Neuralgia. But I've read a lot on physio on Pelvic floor and wondering if that may be a better road to go down.
i have to do something as it's just ruined my quality of life, and I just want to cry.
Has ANYONE got any suggestions???

Hi, Norma! Sorry about your pain and the confusion about it's source. I have new pelvic and back pain due to IC and just started seeing a pelvic physical therapist. It's amazing how everything is so connected in that region and if one part is in pain or misaligned, it can affect everything else. Pelvic PT just might help you and at the very least you might have a clear diagnosis for this terrible pain. I wish you luck and healing.

Thank you for replying to my post Amanda. I've been told by various people to try a woman's Pelvic Therapist, but to be sure they know what there doing as it could cause me more problems. I don't know a lot about them, but what I've heard is they would know the problem.
My pain specialist is the best in the country, but having said that,I'm still in pain. I must say I'm worrying about whether to go ahead with this nerve block, because to be honest I think there just grabbing at straws with me now.
how would I go about finding a PT,even if I go private, how would I tell a good one from a bad one.?? Would they know what my problem was better than a pain specialist?

Based on your reply, I'm guessing that you're in the UK so I'm ot exactly familiar with your healthcare system (I'm in the U.S.) but a referral from your GP might help or even an internet search. Look for credentials and experience and maybe check for online reviews. If you know anyone near you who has used one, ask for a recommendation. My urogyno referred me to a local physical therapist and I'm so happy with her.

I just got diagnosed with pelvic congestion syndrome after 3 years and multiples ultrasound . I have been suffering from pelvic pain with hip and groin on the left side on the ovary and it hurt when women have sex and when you get periods before and after. I’m just want to know if anyone have similar experiences . It had to do with varicouse veins in the pelvic with very low blood flow and that cause pain

Hi Eliaimee,I'm not to familiar with your condition,so I couldn't possibly help you out. I have lots of pain in my pelvic area, but I don't have an exsact diagnosis .

I have just about every test medication consultant, you can have.
but I don't know if this is any help to you,I've been chatting with a lady that's had Pain for years, and she's going down the Physiotherapist route for her Pelvic floor muscles, and she says how much it has helped her. So I'm going to give that a go. Just maybe this may be something you could look into.

it sounds to me that you might have Pelvic Congestion Syndrome. Have you had kids?

Hi Cas,Yes I've had 3kids,but I'm 74yrs old,and I don't know but I would have thought Pelvic Pain should have been a problem to me before now. But having said that they were not easy births one was forceps.

Hi
I've had two embolisations now, with about 18months between them. For the second embolisation I went into hospital for 9am and was out by 2pm, with about an hour on the operating table.
That night my legs were throbbing, aching, tingling, but it was bearable. I kept to my normal daily life of running around after the kids, but would go straight to bed once the kids were in bed. My legs still ached quite bad through the night, but that went away within a week.
Ask you GYN about getting the minerva coil or progestrogen only pill to stop your periods. I found that after each period my symptoms got worse, as if each menstruation did unrepairable damage to my veins. Symptoms improved with the progestrogen only pill feanolla. I have discussed this with my surgeon and a sexual health nurse and they both agreed that stopping my periods was a good idea.
FYI I am in the UK so my treatment has all been on the NHS

I’m not sure about the age thing but you may be right. Most of the time it develops after you’ve had children and mine had gotten worse as time goes on. It’s just sitting and standing make it worse and relief occurs with lying down.
Difficult births shouldn’t make a difference.
