Severe Prostate Infection (undiagnosed for over a year)

I was recently diagnosed with a really sever prostate infection that I've been showing symptoms of for well over a year now. My pcp game me a prostate exam and sent me to a specialist because my prostate was enlarged.

The specialist then determined that what I had was a prostate infection from my description of symptoms. After the diagnosis, she told me she was going to preform a medical procedure that is no longer performed in the medical field called "milking the prostate". She told me that this needed to be done due to length I've had the infection, and so that she could loosen up the infection to allow the 2x daily for 60 days antibiotic treatment could get through the outer infection and really do their job.

She then "milked my prostate" which was really awkward and painful. Then afterwards I sat down and became extremely lightheaded and began sweating profusely as well as shivering uncontrollably. I all of the sudden became extremely nauseaus and started dry heaving a lot, and everything was visually getting really hard to focus, and things were getting really dark kind of like tunnel vision.

This lasted for about 15 minutes with the specialist not knowing what was going on, so she left to check the internet to try and figure out what was happening. When she came back she told me that I was having "Toxic shock" or something like that. When she smashed down on my prostate, a ton of infection actually came out and was released into my bloodstream, which literally made me feel like I was going to die! Lol. This lasted for about 15 minutes until I started feeling normal, except that my liver hurt really bad, or at least there was pain in that area, I'm not sure that it was actually my liver, it just made sense to me but she just said it was my stomach hurting.

She said she'd never seen that reaction before, and that the amount of infection that was building up in my prostate over the passed 14+ months must have really been a lot for that to happen.

This was about a week and a half ago, and I've been taking my antibiotics religiously to try and kill all that nasty stuff that's hurting me. Also, I'm 24 so this is too early in my book to be having prostate problems rolleyes

I was just wondering about a side affect of the antibiotics. I tried google for an answer, but I think the questions to specific for google to really help.

About a week after starting the antibiotics, I noticed a rather large um, pimple or zit (gross I know, sorry) it was right in between my um penis and my rectum.. So I popped it and forgot about it. Then about 4 days later (today) I checked on it again figuring it would be gone, but instead of being gone, it was WAYY bigger. Like the biggest pimple I've ever seen. I then popped it again, but a bunch of white bloody infection/puss oozed out and it was a pretty significant amount. Then it all stopped but felt like there was still stuff in there, so I have it one last real good squeeze, and a bunch of harder white stuff literally shot out, then just clear red liquid. I think it might be a cyst forming or something rolleyes So I'm just wondering since it's right in the area where my prostate would be I think, could it be that it's the infection from my prostate trying to work its way out of my body? The Dr didn't say anything about that, and I haven't been able to find anything online about it.

So yeah I was just wonderabout my if that could be what's happening here?

And also, I was wondering if all that infection that was released into my bloodstream after the procedure was dangerous at all? Could that have seriously injured me? Because I felt like I was literally going to die lol

Thanks ahead of time!

That's one scary experience! However, I think it's all good news. I don't think it's a coincidence that you had the pimple / boil or whatever it was. As regards damage, the body has such good mechanisms for dealing with these things, I dont think there'll be knock-on problems. Just be glad that the problem was dentified and is being dealt with. Good health!

Thank you for your response! Yeah I've definitely had anything like that appear in that area of my body, so I guess it would make sense that they would be connected.

And I know, I've definitely learned my lesson about procrastinating with medical issues. Homework is one thing! But waiting to have medical problems checked out can be dangerous!

Good morning my young friend.  Milking the prostate is not old but it is not used all the time but some urologist are still using it.  I have a friend that is 32 and his urologist did that to him because he has prostatitis.  It the same has masturbating it clean out the prostate. Don't worry about the pimple or what ever else you have it just your body.  Take your meds and you should be fine.  PS if something like that happens again don't wait get it taking care of right away.  Ken

Hmm masterbating it out? What do you mean? She did say something about the prostate is where a lot of 'seminal fluid' or something like that comes from I remember. But I know nothing came out of anything, at least not that I'm aware of. But I guess I didn't really check so who knows. All I know is that it definitely did not feel good in any way, especially afterwards. But yeah I'm definitely going to do everything my doc told me including epson salt baths and probiotics in between antibiotic doses smile Thanks for your response!

Sounds like a pilonidal cyst aka anterior pilonidal sinus. And I doubt you have a prostate infection. Google "Antibiotics and Prostate Massage?" (include the quotation marks.

    ?Good luck!

Pilonidal cyst? Yeah she definitely didn't mention anything about that ): It sounds serious, and now I'm worried that she might have mis diagnosed what the problem is rolleyes If it is that, would antibiotics still be the solution for it? And why do you think that it's a cyst? Because there was so much infection that came out when she pressed down on my prostate really really hard?? And thanks! I really appreciate your input and advice and I'm definitely going to check that out on google right now!

Hey guys, also her are a few I guess symptoms I'd totally accidentally forgot to bring up.

I've noticed that since probably about 16 - 18 months ago maybe more, that I started noticing a very different/distinct smell that was coming from my private groin area. I never really pieced the 2 things together until just earlier today. I just figured that maybe it was just a new body odor on account of me getting a bit older sort of and what not.

And also another thing I'd forgotten to mention is that I've noticed when the immediate outer rectum and up to a couple inches inside the rectum are itching really reallly REALLY intensely, that when I do end up almost having to itch it... as gross and embarrassing to admit that may be rolleyes that there's almost always a slimy / watery discharge fluid that comes out in reasonable amounts...

I forgot to mention all of that to my doctor. I hope none of that information was really important symptom wise.

I remember reading a book.  What that doctor did was a good thing.  Instead of antibiotics, she went in and physically helped your inflammed prostate.  The reaction you had, I think is your body adjusting to the improved condition of your prostate.  As far as antibiotics goes, as for me I try to stay away from it if at all possible.  I read somewhere that in a person's digestive tract, there are roughly 25 trillion bacteria, which helps keep the digestive tract functioning in optimal condition.  When you use antibiotics, it will kill all the good bacteria instantly.  Hope your condition will improve as time goes on.

Yeah, she said that these antibiotics would completely genocide all of my healthy stomach bacteria, so she told me to go get some super expensive probiotics and to take them around lunch which is the furthest distance between my doses of antibiotics. So hopefully those help that issue a little bit at least.
