d hi, I have been suffering with chronic heartburn and reflux the whole summer. I tried pretty much all of the antacids and supplements on the market but nothing seemed to help. finally got to the point where I had to be hospitalized for three months. they tried all sorts of over-the-counter and prescription medications and ran a battery of test but nothing came of it. what should I do next? any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. fthank you in advance.****

Well first of all, three months in a hospital with no answer is astounding ( in the USA it would have cost a kings ransom).

Since you don't mention any diet adjustments that would be a good place to start. There are books devoted to this problem and most will suggest foods and beverages to avoid. Do you smoke, drink alcohol, are you obese etc. All these are factors to address.

i’m not obese and I don't smokey and I have made diet changes but it isn't helping at all.

Only thing left is mental health issues. Do you have an anxiety disorder? If the answer is yes, seek professional help for that and maybe that will resolve the reflux. The mind and the gut are much the same.

Hello. I have had reflux for four years. I've been treated now. Have you ever tried Nortriptyline?

ehsan, are you saying the nortriptyline resolved your reflux issues or was that a suggestion for? Juliagebert's depression ?

      i say resolve my problem.

Acid reflux that does not respond to treatment usually has a neurologic root. I tried many treatments like ppi and antidepressants like ssri. Finally, I only improved with nortriptyline.i use nexium 20 mg and 10 mg nortiptyline daily
