Severe toilet anxiety

I'm always worried about needing the toilet at the best of times (it is a huge source of anxiety for me). But on thursday I'm going into town with some friends, with requires predrinks at theirs and then a taxi ride into town. I'm super stressed about needing to use the bathroom during the taxi ride, as it gets really bad when I've had a drink. I know a solution would just be to not drink, but none of my friends really know about my anxiety disorder so I don't want to have to explain my reasons. This issue is largely psychological as well as 'real', so I was wondering if anyone could me some tips as to how to manage my anxiety (or manage needing to pee when drunk in general haha)? Thanks!

Hey Zoe I would definetly considering telling maybe not all your friends but ones that you can trust. I have been in a similar problem as i just gone back on to meds and all my friends are drinkers so when i tell them am not drinking alot are asking why. Im quite lucky as my friends are very close and i know they will help support me through the good and bad times and have shown this in so many ways in the past when suffering from depression.

I can only advise try and go before the taxi ride even if you really dont need to as at least in your head you have tried and might be more settling.

    I hope this helps.

I used to drink heavy years ago, when I was dating my wife in New York city, when I had to go and relieve myself, the most convenient way was, pull over when I saw a bar, run in, and do my thing. Years later, my wife told me, she thought I was in need of a drink. When you gotta go, you gotta go, if you have a weak bladder, see a doctor, but not to worry, we, us, are all the same, unless you want to make yourself really negatively different, which your not. Your just a special person that deserves to relax, and enjoy life.

Go to the loo as much and often as you can to empty your bladder and don't feel embarrassed.
