Severe Vertigo. Anyone with the same symptoms?

Hi,

I'm 22 and have been experiencing severe vertigo for the past two weeks. I feel floaty, disengaged and woozy most of the time for most days. There are times where I think I'm getting better, but the vertigo comes back all at once.

My symptoms are vertigo, with my left temple hurting, a stuffy feeling in my left ear which then moved on to my left ear ringing, problems concentrating, unbalancedness while walking and oh yes.. I have anxiety too. Even sitting down makes me feel woozy and lying down flat seems to make it worse too. I don't feel nauseous though.

It's difficult to explain the symptoms that I'm having and it's been fairly taxing seeing doctors after doctors and not having a proper diagnosis.

I've seen a neurologist and an ENT doctor over the past two weeks and have had tests done - Reflex test, hearing test, blood test, dix hall pike to see if I have loose crystals in my ear and they have all came back negative. Both neurologist and the ENT have said that it's nothing too chronic or serious, but I just don't feel good or right. I feel miserable and am spending most of my days trying to sleep this off.. Hoping that it would get better when I wake up, but it doesn't.

I have just started on Cavinton Vinpocetine three times a day, to supply blood to the ears that was given to me by my ENT doctor and am hoping that it's going to help.

I'm trying not too worry too much or get paranoid by reading stuff, but I was just wondering if there's anyone out there feeling the same way and if there's anything that I can do to relieve the symptoms?

It's really affected my daily life and I haven't really had much to do except for sleeping and reading on ways to relieve the symptoms.

If the vertigo doesn't subside in a week, I am scheduled for an MRI brain scan.

Would be great to hear from some of you!

Warmest,

Ira Norris

Hi, sorry to hear what you are experiencing - have had the same symptoms for 3 and half years - had all the tests like you and all have been inconclusive. I can only say that althougt it's not much, try to rest as much as possible, take up a gentle form of exercise like yoga, take some decent supplements ie the B's |(B12 in particular), Vit D (i take a liquid forms by Solgar as find they work better), maybe Co ensyme 10, and definitely vt C, 100mg./ As all these will help strengthen your constitution to deal with it all. If you've seen my other posts with Fashions, look up Veda site- a good one on all this and info etc. let us know how you get on.

    Hi Gillian,

It's lovely to hear from you.

Thanks for the advices. I'm definitely trying to rest as much as possible, drinking lots of water and taking a multi-vitamin at the moment.

Just wondering though, have you felt better at all during the 3 and half years?

    Hope you're feeling better.

    Warmest,

    Ira Norris

Yes i know what you mean when you ask 'have i felt better in the three and a half years'. And it's hard to answer with a definite yes or a definite no. I think that after i learned what i needed to do, as i went along without much working on the medication/drug side of things, nor the desensitising exercises thing, and i started to apply some natural remedies i felt stronger and more able to deal with it. The vertigo has not gone i am sorry to say, but i can cope with it better now than in the beginning. Also i am constantly researching and pushing my gp to see different consultants to get different angles on this whole thing as the medical establishment seems to (as i have learned from experience) parcel us up into categories, ie., ears, nose, throat; vestibular, neuro, etc etc and then come up with their own theories, so as i've said before it can get like a minefield.

I have tried acupuncture, and after my first treatment, i had 4 wonderful days of no vertigo! but it came back! I think that multivitamins have their place, but for us people you need more 'pure' if you know what i mean. Separate, reasonable strength ones as in my first post, so please consider trying (as I did) maybe one to start with, say for eg the BComplex. and you can see how you go. keep me informed!
