Severely sore ankle/foot out of the blue: what to do next?

Posted , 1 user is following.

So I've had some discomfort in my right foot, specifically on the top of it around where my ankle is but it feels like it runs down into the foot slightly.

Until has night the pain was such that it would come and go and you'd expect it to simply go away with rest but out of nowhere it got a lot worse and now its constantly throbbing. anti-inflammatory tables provide some temporary relief.

One thing is clear - its time to seek medical help. here's my question, do i:

  1. Go to the emergency room, likely get some pain meds which would really help right now, an x-ray and a referral to a podiatrist; or 2. go see the podiatrist first and likely get referred straight back to get the x-ray?

Appreciate any guidance.
