Sex at 4 weeks 🤞

Posted , 7 users are following.

I can’t get through to my own Physio as she’s doesn’t work today. Other lady said to wait, but I’m cycling twice a day, not used sticks for over a week, no painkillers for 2 weeks etc and get in and out of the bath.

Looking for any advice from others as v keen to get back to normal...plus got a valentines break away and want to make the most of the Hotel!!

Google safe positions, there are many. Be quite passive to start with. Enjoy

Hi Carolyn , I am 3 weeks post op you are well ahead of me did you have the posterior or anterior approach?

Hello Mary - posterior approach, 1 long stitch and glued.  Spinal block and sedation and had it not been for a reaction to slow release morphine I would have been out of Hospital within 48 hours of op.

My scar is unbelievable just a thin red line. I’m only 51 so not sure if that helps recovery, but I’ve been as active as I can, walking around my paddock - though realise that might not be well advised as very bumpy ground.

I had problems with pain around the wound at 2 weeks but once steri strips were off it was fine.

I’ve had no bruising or swelling from the op. I’m a couple of stone overweight - thanks to being so immobile before the op.

I had it done privately - I’m sure that makes no difference, but not sure??

      What problems are you facing?

Thanks Carolyn, exact same scenario for me even down to the drugs reaction I am 64. Am booked to see the physio in another 3  weeks or so they said no outings for six weeks only walk as comfortable, only been walking round the block twice a day and I still suffer a bit of pain doing so .The wound has not quite healed with just a little oozing in one place but am told nothing to worry about. Guess I will have to try a bit harder . My op was NHS .

I think everyone is different with the healing. I had no oozing and have been using rose hip oil on my scar for last 10 days. I tried the cica care sheets, but I couldn’t get them to stay on!

Don’t push yourself too hard, just keep

      Up with the exercises xx

I would suggest that you ask someone else, ie your surgeon would be the right way to go, no one on here could possibly give you the go ahead to start having relations, if you do proceed without full consent from someone in the know you risk dislocation and the cause of having to have revision surgery. Did you get the go ahead to walk/ride etc before you started.

There are 'position charts' on my website on the "Long term recovery" page showing 'low joint risk' positions, I was only allowed to start doing things at 6 weeks but we all vary. Just take it slow and have a giggle at trying out some new variations, if it hurts, then just yell STOP and try something else instead.

      Hi Graham

I sent my husband the charts last weekend!!

He’s far more concerned about my hip than I am, but also realise I need to treat the new hip with respect too!

      Great charts etc 👌🏻

Funnily enough, it was my wife, not me, that wanted to restart as soon as possible after the THR, and after the revision.  There's nothing like enforced abstinence to drive us forward.
