    Hi girls,

I've been diagnosed with OCD and been prescribed Sertraline. I'm reluctant to take them because of this side effect. I've read through that taking 240 mg of Ginkgo biloba a day can 'reverse' this side effect.

Have any of you noticed this side effect decreasing with time? I'm really worried about it, that along with not being able to drink alcohol is really putting me off but I just want to get better!!!

Let me know if you decide to try to the Ginkgo and if it makes any difference and also if this horrible side effect wears off!

    Ta! Good luck!

    xx

The side effects i have had, and im at end of week three now, were:

    -Felt a bit sickly

    -Tiredness

    -No sex drive

    -Big pupils

and thats it really, my pupils are normal now an i dont feel sick or tired anymore.

Im not a big drinker but i like to get drunk on special occasions! Im thinkin of having a few drinks this weekend in the comfort of my own home to see how i feel. Ive heard some people miss their tablet on the day they are guna drink! Dose anyone do that?? If so does it help?

And has anyone got their sex drive back since being on the medication?

Well it was halloween last night, loads of partys were goin on etc. Anyway as i was staying local i decided to have a few drinks. I stuck to vodka & diet coke all night, and i was very pleased to find that i didnt feel sh*t or tired or depressed or anythin, i actually felt good! Maybe if anything i got typsy sooner, but i havent actually had a drink for 2 months, so it could just be that! I dont drink that often but i now know i can get a bit drunk on special occasions, and not get questioned by people of why im not drinking!

Just thought id let you all know my experience!

I've been taking them for a few weeks and have only felt a bit sick after taking them, but it goes after an hour or so. Drinking hasn't been a problem, I have a couple of glasses of wine throughout the week and the tablets have actually made me more focused on 'the norm' after I've had a glass (i'm a light weight so one glass hits the spot fast)! And secondly they've helped me stay awake more in the day as the prozac I took made me so tired. Oh and the sex drive hasn't come back yet although I've got more energy to actually respond to my partner 'trying it on'....... They are helping with my body dysmorphic thingy or whatever its called so that the main thing. I did find out that for woman sex is easily forgotton once you don't have it for a while so its worth doing it just to get the habit back smile Good luck

I was on sertraline a couple of years ago for about 10 months and during that time i had no sex drive or ability to orgasm. It did not return to normal until i stopped taking the tablets.

I have now been put back on sertraline and have been taking them for 3 months and the same thing has happened again!

This is a very common side effect according to my GP.

Only just started on Sertaline but had the same experience taking Seroxat, another ssri. My sex drive was pretty low before I started taking it to be honest but as the med started to work and i started to feel better my sex drive returned but I found it virtually impossible to achieve orgasm. this was frustrating and I came off the medication far to quickly to try and remedy this and ended up feeling much worse. you've just got to be a little patient not get too stressed about it and things will sort themselves out

I Guess my experience goes against the grain a little bit here! I've been taking sertraline for about 4 weeks now, And my Sex drive hasnt gone anywhere, In fact I want more sex now than before! Also my ability to last longer before orgasm takes less effort and is totally controllable. My missus thinks it's great.

The downside to my experience is following a couple of great weeks I have started to feel anxious again with that lump in my throat feeling thats associated with anxiety. I'm hoping it's just a blip and I level off again
