Sex & Procedures

Good Evening or Good Morning Where ever your at .......

I know this is a touchy subject........But

BPH has been starting earlier these day's some men in there 30's.But when you are looking into a procedure to fix your BPH problem. Sex and it functions should be talked about by your doctor. There are some doctors that will tell you everything you want to know and be glad to answer your questions. But then you have some doctors that will tell you very little or nothing at all. Or under play it.

If you have done any research on the internet 9 out of the top 10 procedures cause sexual problems and retro ejaculation. This is when your ejaculation goes up into the bladder instead of out of the penis. Doctor will tell most men after 50 you don't need it or there is less of a clean up. Or all will be the same. That should not be the doctors choice. It is up to each man what procedure he has and what side effects he can deal with.

Most of the time all is the same but you have to be ready just in case. 210 Million men are dealing with BPH problems and this is only 6% of the population. But looking at 20% that will have some type of sexual problem after they have a procedure is not that bad. But do you what to be that 20%. Men will have a change in there orgasm. It can be down to a 1/3 of what you had before. This can be a problem for some men because they give up sex because it does not feel the same.( And you guys know we don't like change )

Most doctors are not concerned with there patients sex life. There main concern is to get you to pee better. Now if you are concerned with your sex life Voice your concerns to your doctor.A lot has to do with your age and how active you were before your surgery. But you can't give up you have to work on it.

I read a article the other day by a doctor who said what every procedure you pick even if you have your prostate removed if you want your sex life back you have to get the blood moving. Even if you don't have sex you need to get that blood into your penis. The sooner you can do this the better the out come will be.

A erection starts in the brain. You then have one artery that get the penis going and they there are other arteries that will finish the job. After a procedure you have to get that blood flowing. Watch porn or look at a magazine. Any thing to get yourself aroused. Some men I have talk to say that after there procedure the next morning they were aroused which is a good sign.

I wrote this because every man has a right to a sex life after any procedure if he want one. When we get older is when we should be able to have fun and enjoy life.

Take care and good luck to all. Do your research................Ken

Great thoughts. I have just about resigned myself to the truth that my lil buddy may never be the same.

But the pain from peeing makes me only care about being able to pee pain free. If I have to use it only for that, I guess that'll have to do.

I haven't tried anything like viagra, I'm kind of scared to till I'm able to pee freely again.....I'll

worry about that later....but it does worry me. Uro-lift didn't work, so he thinks green light laser is next best option......I'm just worried it won't work either and I'll be, at best, no better off and possibly worse off than I am now.

Guess we all fight this in different stages/ways.....

John we should never give up if that is what we want. Can I ask you why did the Urolift fail how many clips did you have put in. Do you have a median lobe. They do have a procedure for that now. Midlift. Or what about PAE or Rezum.

Maybe the prostate is not the problem???? Get some samples from your doctor to see if that will help you. Another thing your doctor only thinks that a GL will fix the problem> What if it don't. ??

      Have a good day.....Ken

All are valid questions....it Seemed like urolift was my best option. New, cutting edge....seemed least invasive. My current and past complaint is not of pain inside my body, but actually in the shaft itself....almost like there is an obstruction. So much so that sometimes I feel I need to almost need to 'milk it' like you would a cows udder......he hasn't shown any indication he believes it is anything other than the prostate.........seems odd to me......

As far as meds go, I'm still taking flowmax (2 a day) and if I DON'T it's a lot worse with in about 16 hours......so that leads me to think he may be right and it is my prostate.......I wish there was a solid answer somewhere........

      Good Afternoon

Hey John. Before you do anything I would get a second opinion maybe you have a blockage in the front of the prostate. You could have a median lobe.

      Good luck...Ken

The best way to get your sex life back is to have a sex partner that will encourage you.
