sexual abuse

Ok so i was abused sexually from the age of 10 until 6 weeks after my 16th birthday! I got police gave evidence all recorded on video and he was not charged because of lack of evidence. My brother was 14 and if he had gave a statement baring in mind he was in bed when it came out it would of definatly supported my case. Now 10 uear on hes willing to give a statement. Iv been diagnosed with ptsd from the age of 17. Meaning post TRAUMATIC stress dissorder because im TRAUMATISED by what i DID go through as a child. If i reopen case now what chances so i have of bringing justice on him. Ill add my mam stood by him once charges didnt go forward and threw me onto street. Now shes admitting she was scared off him and wouldnr admit she knew it was true! Also it was his parenty that took me in when i was thrown out because evn then knew their son did it to me who i now class as my parents

Whatever you do you need to discuss PTSD with your GP and you will be given a pathway to come to terms with your sexual attack.

Take further Legal Action on the instigator, if you now have that proof and wiingness you did not have before. Go for it, you wil be abe to put your mind at rest

So sorry to hear your story. I was also abused sexually from the ages of 6 to 9 years old. My situation was different in a lot of ways but I can still relate. My grandmother knew the abuse was happening for an entire year. She stood by her husband during court too. My abuser was sentenced to 10 years after he pleaded guilty. He tried to take back his word and say he was pressured into pleading guilty. He got of prison two days before my high school graduation. My ptsd has been absolutely horrible since then.

I would suggest taking it to court. Or at least getting an opinion from someone in that field. I personally would need closure. My abuser served 10 years and it still doesn't make up for anything that happened to me.

I don't know what your chances are but it might be worth it to try.

I am very sorry for what you and others like you have gone through with the sexual abuse..really makes me aggravated and furious. Taking legal action is a very good idea and having a good lawyer is key because sometimes it an get tricky.

Just like Bob said, talking to your doctor about PTSD and therapy treatments is very important. I would also sign up for some martial arts or other athletic clubs so you can not only gain confidence in yourself but also will act as therapy for your mind.
