Hi - had mri result said:

Lowest 3 lumbar discs are deydrated and L5/S1 has lost height

At L4/5 a right latural disc bar is narrowing the exit foramen. causing mild right L4 nerve root oedma.

I take amytriptalyne 30mg at night, co-codamol  2 x 30/500mg 4 times a day, on day 5 of 300mg three times a data Gabapentin....

I am having physio weekly - my pain is really bad and wish the pills would kick in, I think Gaba takes 2-3 weeks to work.

Any advice would help - booking a further GP appointment next week.

I have PsA by the way on methatraxte 12.25mg per week.

But smile and am positive :-)

Your thoughts most appreciated.

Hi. I did not think the gabapentin was working but it did kick in after about 10 days of regular doses.

Same 3 discs dehydrated n last one has herniated.

With gabapentin I can cope ok.

I find keeping mobile helps me especially walking up stairs seems very helpful when it starts to flare up.

    Stick with it, good luck.

have recently had an injection (steriod) for first time regarding low back spinal compression resulting in severe sciatica at times depending on activity, example, walking 5 plus miles or swimming a mile. Took Gaberpentin for pain until receiving the injection for eight months with great releif. Am off meds since the injection, back to swimming and walking with minamal discomfort. Their really must have ben alot of inflamation that has been reduced, because my back has not felt this healthy in years. Should also mention I had a lumbar surgery with great results for 12 years, before this major flareup.
