Sharp Chest pains left side

Posted , 4 users are following.

I have been suffering with chest pain for a couple of months now. Some days it feels like a constant pressure but every so often there is a sharp stabbing pain that takes my breath away. The pain is always on the left hand side. Occasionally the stabbing is below the rib cage on the left hand side but it is usually in the chest area. I have had multiple ECGs and blood tests aswell as an echocardiogram. All came back normal and my doctors don't seem concerned at all which annoys me. I am 19 and male. I know the probability of heart problems is low but am still worried. What could be causing this pain?

    Hi Concerned

I don't want to make light of your symptoms, but it is possible that it is only indigestion, especially as all your tests have come back clear. Indigestion can sometimes have this strange effect of hurting in the chest area instead of where you would expect it to be, like your abdomen area.

Saying that, if you feel your doctor is not listening to you and you become really worried, (incidently, stress can cause you to have pain in the chest area), I suggest you go to your nearest A&E, at least to put your mind at rest.

    All the best.

New to the forum and suffering from this stuff as you guys are! Pain mostly in the middle of my leftside. Feel likes real bad indigestion or stabbing pain. If I lean my head back it goes down my spine and moves to left shoulder. Spent thousands of dollars trying to get answers and just like you guys still no answers.

I've had this crap for 8 years now. I'm 56 years of age. And I'm sick of it! If anybody has any answers PLEASE help us all! If I find out anything I'll be the first to tell you all-promise. Hope someone finds out what's going on and I pray for everyone. Because unless you have dealt with this stuff. You can't understand the pain-stress and agony this stuff puts on people who have it. It's like having another full time job to deal with.God bless all of you who suffer.
