Sharp knee pain across front of knee after LHR?

Hi,

I'm 65 yo male and had left hip replacement about 10 weeks ago and it has healed very well, was back playing golf after 6 weeks and have been walking the golf course for 4 weeks now playing 3 times a week.

I get some left upper leg soft tissue/muscle dis-comfort but that is changing, started just above the knee, after a little while that dis-comfort goes and I get a little more muscle dis-comfort higher up but each time that subsides after a day or two. This doesn't hinder my walking at all, no pain at all.

The main issue I have is I get some sharp pain across the front of my LEFT KNEE only WHEN I BEND IT, I get no dis-comfort at all during walking up to 9 Kms on the golf course. This dis-comfort isn't there every time I bend it, it seems like I have to bend the knee a few times to stretch something.

It almost feels like a pinched nerve, any comments would be much appreciated.

Cheerz 😃

P.S.: The X-Ray I had of the knee just before LHR showed reduction of cartilage but nothing that should cause knee pain

Hello. When they put the appliance in place at your hip I heard a lot of pressure is on that left knee. I had the LTHR down in Sept 18,2019 and felt similiar pain but it eventually went away with a lot of stretches and exercise.

Sounds way to familiar. I never had knee pain until after my surgery. It is anterior knee pain. Had an MRI and it revealed I do have some arthritis in my knee which was irritated from the THR. Trade off one pain for another.

I have had various similar pains in the 8 months since my right THR. They come and go, but are now less frequent. I think it's just something that lessens over time as everything heals.

When the body gets a front end alignment , it takes time for everything to go back in it's relaxed place of movement. MYA is the plan for like. Move Your A-- as my Mother used to say.

      Hi,

Thanks for all of your comments, I'm reading them all and they give me a little more understanding of the above left knee dis-comfort I'm currently experiencing.

Yesterday the dis-comfort or sharp pain was there every time I bent my left knee but today it seems to have re-cindered a lot, must've been just one-of-those-days.

      Cheerz 😄 😃 😉
