    It seems to have been a panic attack. I've calmed a bit now and the sharp pain is gone. But it does scratch a little to breath

    Talk to your GP and explain your discomfort. Are you suffering from Anxiety or is this something different

    Make your appointment and explain your needs

    Have you been to the doctor to be checked out? Very important first step I think. I've been having them for a couple of months and I've had several tests. I still have pain which sucks but I'm trying to tell myself I'm ok.

      I've been to the ER three times and seen my gp once. They've run all the tests possible and they always come back fine. Some days I can control it and not have a panic attack. But others, like today, I have horrible panic attacks thinking I'm dying. I have another appointment set with my gp for tomorrow, so I'll tell her all this is still happening. Thank you for your reply/help!

    Hey there. I do get these feelings with my anxiety. I went to ER with them two months ago (actually called an ambulance for myself) and I was lucky enough to be seen by a doctor which was specialised in psychosomatic illnesses. Im 18 too. He looked at me and knew im fine. He drew me on a piece of paper a graph or whatever that looked like this.

    Stress/Anxiety ----> Heart Palpitations/sharp pain/breathlessness ----> Ambulance, ER visit

    My first argument was "Well you say that stress is on the first place, I dont have it like that. First, I get the pain and everything and THEN...." and he said: "And then what?" and I said "Well then I get stressed." and he told me thats the problem. I will get some pain that everyone gets once in a while, OVERTHINK it, all I would think about is my body sensations and really with that the pain and sensations get much much worse, you will get sharp pains everywhere, your pulse will start to raise, you wont be able to take a breath, you will sweat, be dizzy.. And that is a panic mode. When im in panic, only option on my mind is that im dying. Which again, just makes everything worse. Mind is very strong. It can make you believe a lot of things, like when you are dreaming that you are really in the situation.. I dont know if that makes sense or not. Just what I learnt from terrifying experiences of mine, reading books about anxiety, doctors opinions.

    Now for some statistics, I looked up the probability of someone as young as you and me getting a heart attack or a stroke. 1000 to 2000 people that are younger then 40 experience a heart attack yearly. I dont have to tell you how huge US are, so we know that getting a heart attack at such age is veeeery rare. The people that get it at a young age either have some heart condition that has been left untreated or are obese, have blood pressure issues etc. People dont get heart attacks for no reason, especially not as young as you.

    So, if you are still feeling sick or unwell, go to the ER, they will do some EKG or a blood test or whatever and you will see and know for the future, if this keeps happening, if there is really something to be concerned about or not - just anxiety.

    Wishing you best of luck,

      Thank you for the reply! I've seen all the statistics regarding heart attacks within certain age groups. I just can't get my brain to understand that when I'm having  panic attack. It's been going on for about two months and I've been to the ER three times and seen my gp once. They've done all the tests they could, and they always come back fine. I have been diagnosed with GERD and asthma, which explains most of my symptoms. My biggest problem I think is that I go into Google mode while I'm having a panic attack. Of course the first thing that comes up any time you type "chest pain" into Google is "Heart attack." I have an appointment with my gp tomorrow, so maybe she'll refer me to a Gastroenterologist. Or possibly give me stronger pills for my acid reflux.

      Again- thank you for the reply and well wishes!

      I do the same thing with Google. It's helpful except when it comes to anxiety and health issues then it can do more damage than good. When I'm up at night I try not to have my phone near me because I Google too. And I hate the answers. There is always some major health issue and then sometimes I start thinking I have whatever it is that I'm reading and get stressed even more.

    I am overweight but was told I don't have any risk factors other than that. I think it's definitely a good idea to get checked out. It eased my mind a bit. I still worry constantly though and I think that's my anxiety taking over me. It definitely control the mind if you let it. I have a hard time sleeping because I worry so much. I even had an ultrasound and mammogram for the pain I was having. They diagnosed me with costochrontitis and then acid reflux...also think I have an ulcer. The panic didn't start over my health until after these pains started.

    Go to the hospital right now. They will know within 10 minutes if it's a heart attack or not. It probably is not, but it will ease your mind.
