Morning Jerry, yes ive experienced the same as you, pains in same place usually more on side of left breast but occasional on both. One thing thats known to cause this is underwired bras, i went to my kenesiologist and she said my lympthetic system was trapped in the gland under my arms, she worked on this area and i havnt had it since.  Being your 49 could also be hormonal inbalance to especially as you have this in both breasts. i know when i was in my 40s i was experiencing a lot of tenderness in both breasts and kept getting cysts developing which i was told is common in that age group but this was different to the pain you describe and the place you are getting it. I doubt its anything much to worry about but if your like me i did worry. i dont get the pains anymore, im 64 now, was 62 when i last experienced the discomfort which went after seeing my kenesiologist.

So interesting susan! I have always worn underwires, and never knew that before. Thanks for sharing! I will be buying some different bras.

    Hi,

Yes, a sharp stabbing pain.  Sounds hormonal.  I then went on to have several months of general tenderness and weird crawly feelings on the left side which was disconcerting on the left side, especially at night.  Both were very sore, so much so, that even receiving a hug hurt!  had it checked out...all OK, in fact the breast clinic doctor said "pain is rarely anything to worry about".  Am sure yours is fine, but best to nip to the GP to be sure and give you peace of mind x

      Hi and thank you kristi

That's very strange as my period stopped about 2 1/2-3 years ago I had no major symptoms. A year or so ago started sweats now and again and some dryness and uncomfortable sex. ThE sweats seemed to go for a while but just I think starting up again and just a week ago starts this Breast thing which comes and goes. I'm just wondering if this is it really going to start !!!!

Thanks again. Yes it is good to have these conversations x

this happened to my friend.  she took an anti-depressant during menopause and then went off post.  she was fine for 2 years and then started bleeding and hot flashes.  she went on hrt and was fine for a year.  now she's having night sweats while on hrt!!    stress and diet??? she's a highly anxious person and she eats more sweets and junk than she used to;  has had some weight gain...   try the elimination diet.  no gluten, soy, dairy or sugar.  just try it for a week, see how you feel.  since i've done it, i've lost 30 pounds and have manageable flushing and anxiety and night sweats that are few and far between.  i'm hoping this works for the rest of my life.  smile

Hi Jerry, been experiencing the same breast pain but only in the left breast. Also have had cysts in the right. Reading a few other posts about women experiencing pre-menopause/ menopause there has really not been any real research into any proper cure or medicine to help with giving women a real relief of the same symptoms over and over again, makes me wonder if men suffered from these same complications if there would have been loads more research money used to find a clear cut cure. All discussions and books on this subject only gives us what other women have found works for them as advice . It would be great if there was a handbook we could get that says exactly what you can do to get through these life changing times ;-) Anyone know if there is one out there?

I agree a handbook would be awesome. No one I know even talked about menopause until I started four years ago.

    Hi jerry72101!

I too have had that happen, was worried it might be heart related. Although I never had such a thing before MENOPAUSE. eek
