sharp upper back pain

I have some acute back pain in my upper back. It started from bench pressing but now whenever i do something that requires upper body strength my back is sore for days after. I get pain when I turn my head to the left as well as when i allow my head to fall back(sitting in chair being supported by my neck alone). I have been to an orthopedic specialist and he thought it was a herniated disc in my neck. I got an mri and there was nothing to note in the area. I was given stretches to complete daily and they helped at first but my back has stopped responding. I have had this pain for 2 months and it seems to get better but always ends of returning to the original level of pain. The orthopedic specialist seems unsure of what my issue is or how to solve it. He wants me to pay for physical therapy but I am unsure if he is trying to help of get my money. I am considering going to a chiropractor as well. I dont know what I should be doing to solve this issue and it is really interfering with my life and goals. I would appreciate some advice on what I should be doing as well as any insight into the injury that I have. I have attached some images that were given to my by my doctor as well as an image showing where I have the pain in my back. Thank You

I am really sorry you're having such trouble. Technically speaking if you have pain for another 30 days making it three months your pain will be considered chronic and not acute. just so you know. you didn't mention your age or sex I'm assuming you're young as in younger than 30 and a male since your name is Max. (BTW my grandson's name is Maxwell) I think seeing a chiropractor is a smart thing to do and bring the actual MRI imaging with you as well as the report. I can't tell you how important it is to do physio. it can make the difference on how long this is going to last and whether it's going to be with you forever. do the exercises they give you and do them everyday. finally try not to get frustrated that the MRI did not show anything. It does not mean that something is not wrong with your back it simply means that the MRI did not pick it up. I don't know what country you live in but if you can afford it you might ask your doctor to do another MRI in six months after you've been doing Chiropractic and PT to see if it shows anything then.
