Shaving down there

I would like to know if you ladies shave down there with LS or just let it grow? Which is better for you. From reading all these discussions it sounds like I have a mild case of LS. I'm using the Clob ointment.

    Hi Connie,

Have you been diagnosed with LS? I shave down there myself, use to every few days. I see a urology therapist and she said with LS is better to not shave but it was up to me. As long as I'm not broke out I shave but it's really up to you and what your comfortable with doing. Good luck and make sure to keep vitamin e or coconut oil on you to keep from getting dry and use the clobetasol sparingly. I was diagnosed 14 years ago. Been a battle ever since. Also please read the discussion on here "experiment with borax". Its a life saver!

Thanks, Sheila, for all the good advice. Yes, a biopsy confirmed LS in June. What brand of coconut oil do you use? I live in the US.

My one tip would be that it is essential to avoid razor burn / rash - so if you have developed your technique so that you can prevent this, then go ahead and shave.  The essential to avoid, is to prevent damage to the surface level of the skin, as this may give an entry point for LS to expand into that is damaged by shaving.

Wow! I didn't know that about a cut giving LS entry. Thanks for your tips, Wee Dugie.

Perhaps rather than use the term "MAY give an entry point" I should have worded that - 'potential entry point' - but, why risk spreading, inflaming an already nasty condition ....

I used to but unfortunately I have tried twice since being diagnosed last year and both times it caused a flare.

Hi Connie , I also shave but only when things are calmer and not as frequently as I used to .

I trim to keep things tidy and also I feel cleaner and able to watch for any changes.

I now live in avery hot climate so letting the hairs grow is not something I will do 😌

Hope all gets better for you xx

Hi Connie- I do as little shaving as possible down there. I live in a very warm climate and we wearbathing suits alot, so I just teim enough to be tidy. luckily I hv a husband who likes things pretty natural. Good luck to you!

I don't use a razor, I just use a pair of scissors, does the job, and it doesn't cause a rash afterward.

I use the beard trimmers. Its not a daily or weekly thing; just when I think it has grown too much. It is more for me than anyone else. I am not in a relationship and no one sees me down there, except for me and my doctor.

Thanks for sharing, Angela. I''ll have to try the beard trimmers sometime.
