Prednisone should ease your pain. Eat a healthy diet and do moderate exercis to elieve anxiety and stress.

I am also on prednisone and have been since July 2016.  Weight gain with the drug is inevitable, but it need not be excessive if you can monitor your diet and cut way back on carbs.  I've gained about 7 lbs and am fairly certain it would have been worse had I not kept track of carbs and calories. Exercise is equally important.  Good luck.

I hope you don't have to stay on it for too long either, but do be careful when reducing---you don't want to go too fast.  I began at 40 and am now down to 9 which I take for a month; and then 8 for a month and so on.  I've heard horror stories about people who tried to reduce too fast.
