Shingles?!

A few weeks ago i had a few blisters pop up on my left shoulder..they looked more like boils or cysts. They were tender to the touch but I had no pain in the surrounding area at all. I was away on vacation at the time and was planning to see the doc when i got home but they cleared up within a few days on their own. Fast forward to now (2 weeks later) and I am having excruciating muscle like pain in my left shoulder, collarbone, neck. Lymph nodes also swollen on the left side of my neck, AND my jaw and face hurt on the right side. I saw my PCP who suggested maybe I actually had shingles and am experiencing Posttherpetic Neuralgia. She also suggested possible Lymes disease. They took blood work to check for both but im just curious if anyone has had a similar experience with shingles and didn't have the "classic" rash and range of initial symptoms?
