Shingles 4months ago 67 yr old head eye shingles phn now

can anyone give me any advice please my father took shingles of the head and eye 4months ago he was caught late he was kn the anti virals gabapentin amitriptyline and co coadmaol morphine nothing worked he has tried everything he has ongoing severe pain and burning with the nerve damage he is light sensitive and in severe pain all day and burns tou can see the red and swelling and sometimes purple still daily where the shingles was on his head I'd this normal after 4months anyone found anything that has eased the pain he has lost all hope and he was a very active healthy working man he has went to acupuncture yesterday but had felt no relief at all any info please would be so great the gps said months ago nothing they can do and eye specialist said nothing can do he was kn antiviral drops steriods drops nothing worked and he uses ice on his head all day when it's going red and flaring please help thankyou
