Shingles 5 weeks later

I was diagnosed with shingles 5 weeks ago and although the itching and pain has long been stopped, I still have little raised bumps. Is this normal? The only thing I put on the area is bio oil to help with scarring. Will the bumps go away? I have tan skin so the marks are brown. It’s a fairly large area and I’m terrified it’ll be a huge scar. Btw I’m 27.

I had shingles on right side of my face last July and still have slight redness and a few tiny bumps which I'm hoping will eventually go away. Make up covers the blotchiness and overall it's a lot better than it was. Reading up on it says can take up to 2 yrs to completely go and that includes PHN which I've got. So as frustrating as it is I try and tell myself there's still a way to go timewise. I'm sure keeping the area moisturised will help. Good luck.

i hate to be the bringer of bad news but Ive suffered PHN for more than 10 years. I was told it would last about 8 weeks. Sometimes it's not as bad as other times but it ain't good.

Oh how awful for you! I had heard it could be permanent...if it hadn't gone by a couple of years then it would most likely be. Just didn't want to think of that and told myself that might just be in rare cases. What I've got is certainly manageable but it's really not good as you say.

I am glad the pain and itching are gone. Where is the location of the rash?
It takes about 8 months to a year for the bumps to resolve completely, depending on how severe and deep your Shingles infection was, on whether you scratched or picked at the
bumps, and how your own body heals. Fortunately, you are young.
Best Wishes,
Merry Juliana
