Hi, I have shingles in my eye, the Opthamologist has given me the all clear but my vision is blurred due to the scarring. Has anyone had laser surgery done to correct the scarring?

Thanks

    HI,

So sorry to hear about your Shingles in eyes. I had them on my right side of face and it was headed toward my eye. I was sent from ER to an Eye Doctor just in case. I thought if it was in your eye and they caught it soon enough, they could save you from any types of surgery for the eyes?

I sure hope this isn't permanent damage to your eye? Thinking of you during this difficult time.

Thanks Cyndi for your reply and and caring. Glad to hear you are ok, you are very lucky. I have had this for over a year, have been seeing an Opthamologist over this period but as of now no virus is active but my vision is the worst its been.

Thats why i am curious if anyone has had laser surgery to help this problem.

    Thanks Alison

    Allison,

While I had Herpes Zoster-Shingles in my Right eye twice, I did not have scarring, but others on this forum did. I would seek help at a university sub-specialist with an excellent reputation. Others had their vision improved markedly by corneal specialists. Not all ophthalmologists are created equal.

I had scleritis, another serious eye condition, of both eyes and was seen initially by a general ophthalmologist, who mucked around for a couple of weeks in ignorance. I finally saw a corneal specialist, who knew what he was doing. My vision was restored. .

    I'm a Nurse Practitioner, BTW.

    Best Wishes,
