Shingles - numbness after rash

I was diagnosed with shingles 8 days ago. I started antiviral meds a little late because the rash did not show up on my neck until after 4 days of shooting pain in my scalp and neck. (I went to urgent care on days 2 and 4 of the pain but was not diagnosed since it is the same side as my sinus issues).

I finished the valacyclovir yesterday. The shooting pains are gone but my scalp is numb on the right side (where the shingles were). Has anyone else dealt with this and when did your scalp start to feel less numb? My doctor just prescribed gabapentin. Thankfully my neck (which also had the rash) isn’t bothered.
