Shingles on face - bridge of nose swollen and eye swollen - worried!

Hi there,

My husband has shingles on his face. It is on his forehead and around his eye, which is swollen. However the bridge of his whole nose is really swollen and this is worrying me. He's on anti virals (late starting them though because he was misdiagnosed at first) and he's on antibiotics as he has had cellulitis before. He's seen the optician to make sure it isn't actually IN his eye but I've read some awful things about face shingles and because his face is swollen over his whole bridge of his nose, I am very worried. Has anyone else had bad swelling with this? is it to be expected? Thanks in advance.

I had shingles over my right eye and scalp just before last Christmas. Eye swollen shut for a week at least. Photosensitive for about six weeks. Felt like I'd been smacked over the head with a pipe for four months. Off pain killers by early May. Still gets itchy and annoying. Had a bout of trigeminal neuralgia some weeks ago when I had stopped injecting with b1/b12 for a few weeks, so the few hundred intramuscular injections might help and I am continuing with them. Good luck to your husband. Plenty of people become drug addicts and suffer horrible ongoing pain and eye damage with PHN. I didn't, so I think myself lucky. PHN sucks!
